Environmentally Safe Organic Household Cleaner
I had been hearing a lot about Shaklee's Basic H2 cleaner on conference calls. I thought..well maybe I had better get that out of the closet and try it. I had given it to my wife and she thought she would finish up the cleaners she had first. One woman had stated that the Basic H2 cleaned better than anything she had used, even on the worst grime and grease. I thought about what the hardest to clean item I had was and.... Oh My God....I remembered my gun. I had shot my black powder muzzle loader and put it away intending on cleaning it the next day. I had used it hunting (in December and this is July!) and had bagged a deer with it and took care of that first. Any one that shoots black powder guns knows you do not leave them uncleaned. So I got out my Basic H2 and quickly mixed up a 16 oz. batch with 1 1/2 tsp. to the rest water. I was very interested to see how it would perform on my gun. I laid out some newspaper on my kitchen counter. (sorry ladies..us men do that kind of thing when you are gone. My wife was at work. It is the flattest, cleanest surface available.) Then I pulled the breech plug out of my gun. I got out a clean bowl and sprayed the Basic H2 on the plug in the bowl. I was astounded to see the black powder residue run off the breech plug. Then I put together my cleaning rod and attached a rag to the end. I sprayed some basic H2 onto the rag and ran it though the barrel a few times. I did this with 2 rags. I looked through the barrel (with the breech plug out you can look straight through the barrel of this inline muzzle loader) I was very impressed as 2 rags took out 80% of the residue. I attached a wire brush onto my cleaning rod and sprayed it with Basic H2. I ran this back it forth through the barrel a dozen times and then took a couple of clean rags down the barrel to finish the job. Then I looked down the inside of the barrel again. This gun barrel has not been that shiny since it was new! I normally use to heavy solvents to clean this gun. I never touched them. There was no need to. The Basic H2 just replaced some very heavy duty chemicals. I cleaned up my newspapers on the counter and wiped it cleaned easily. Then I noticed the floor. I had forgot to cover the floor where my cleaning rod was coming out the end of the barrel. I did not panic..I just grabbed the basic H2 and sprayed it on the floor and wiped it up with a few paper towels. This is one amazing cleaner. I am forever sold.
